Are you a VideoArtist who has joined the low-budget video revolution only to find that, once you've created your video work, there are few places to show it?  We don't have to tell you how film festivals treat original videos.  Besides, even if you are lucky enough to compete with big budget indie films, a festival lasts but a few days...then, most works get shelved.

Professional producers will agree, that, while the technological revolution is creating more productions, distribution of them is harder than ever.  The reality in the traditional film world is that, most works in any category, no matter what the budget, will never get seen. 

WHY?  Because videomakers have not seriously addressed the issue of creating full-time venues where videos can be presented and viewed as what they are...VIDEOS!

VIDEOS ARE NOT MOVIES!

They are not just a cheap method of making films!  And, they are not inferior!   But, if videomakers continue to attempt to play by the rules of traditional Hollywood filmmaking, then, the video revolution will remain incomplete.  Even George Lucas knows this, but, his mighty plans for converting American movie theaters into expensive High Def Video venues are a long way off.  Some of us can't wait that long.

Here at VideoTheatre,NYC,  we work at a grassroots level showing original videos in all categories...from shorts to features, fictional works to documentaries and animations, art-house creations to down and dirty exploitation horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, sex, action and rock&roll vids!  We welcome amateurs and students...and, even filmmakers (as long as your entry is on video.)  Sure, it's an eclectic mix, but, there are a lot of works out there to be seen and we're not about to exclude anyone based on the traditional molds cast down to us by the commercial/indie film world. 

For VideoArtists, the submission process here at VideoTheatre,NYC is simple enough...why pay exorbitant entry fees into film/video festivals where the chance of being shown gets slimmer everyday?   VideoTheatre's weekly publicized programming lasts throughout the year, so, for a small fee, your chance of showing your work in a NYC theater in downtown Manhattan is 52 times greater than getting chosen for a one-time weekend festival.  Invite producers, distributers, mom, dad, whomever you want...
